Vera Mantero

(Lisbon, 1966) was a dancer with Ballet Gulbenkian for five years before distancing herself from classical dance to study release technique, theatre, voice and composition in New York. She has been creating her own choreographies since 1990, exploring the poetics of a questioning body. She believes in fusion between disciplines, in performers who are dedicated to all living arts. Represented Portugal at the 26ª Bienal de São Paulo with a work co-created with the artist and sculptor Rui Chafes. In 2002, recived the Prémio Almada (IPAE/MC) for her career.
