Rui Silveira

Rui Silvera  is a Portuguese performer and artist currently living in Barcelona.  He has a BA in Performing Arts and studied dance and performance at the CEM - Centro Em Movimiento (Lisbon); Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, Forum Dança (Lisbon) and REAL - Resposta Alternativa/Cia.  Joao Fiadeiro. As part of his training he worked with Sofia Neuparth, Peter Michael Dietz, Howard Sonenklar, Franciso Camacho, Jao Fiadeiro and Nigel Charnock.  He worked and collaborated as a performer with companies such as Bomba Suicida, Ninho de Viboras and La Fura Dels Baus and with independent choreographers including Frans Poelstra, Ludger Lamers and Miguel Pereira.  He has also collaborated with visual artists including Fiorenza Menini and Nadia Lauro.  Since 1999, he has been working on his own artistic projects, presenting the pieces:  This is my body which is broken to you. (2000); Follow My Steps (2001), 85 Dias en 5 Minutos (2002) y 30 Dias en 15 Minutos (2004). More recently, he created and performed in Insider, a solo that premiered in June 2005 at Point Ephémère - Centre de Dynamiques Artistiques, Paris.  He is a co-founder of the cultural association La Mekanica (Barcelona).
