Ana Buitrago

Choreographer, dancer, publisher and translator at times. Graduated in 1992 from the SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Ámsterdam. Since then she realizes her own pieces and interventions sometimes alone and others in collaboration. In 1995 founded together with La Ribot, Olga Mesa, Blanca Calvo, Elena Córdoba and Mónica Valenciano the collective UVI-La inesperada. From 1995 to 2001 co-directed Estudio 3. She teaches workshop, courses and laboratories at many different research centres, schools and universities. During 2004 and 2005 she developed the research project Poseerse por escampadas at La Casa Encendida, with the collective Cinco y pico and by herself. Between 2004 and 2007 she was artistic co-director of La Porta, dansa independent Barcelona, structure with which she continues collaborating on specific projects. Her last pieces have been: Primer ensayo sobre el sinsentido within the project 3 encuentros (2007), produced and performed by Las Santas (Barcelona) and Buscar al tacto la geografía del descanso (2008). She has coordinated the publishing of the two fist numbers of Cuerpo de letra, a series of books about thought and dance and edited Arquitecturas de la mirada (CdL 2) in 2009. This same year she performed and danced in the theatre piece Memoria del jardín, writen and directed by Antonio Fernández Lera. Lately besides working on Apuntes mínimos, she has collaborated assisting artistically the choreographers Estela Lloves, in the piece Flor de Hueso (2009) and Carme Torrent in the piece Cien fuegos horizontales which belongs to the project Moverse sobre nada (2010). At present she lives in Granada but actually works anywhere else and teaches workshop and laboratories focusing on certain issues related to presence on stage, the gaze and other composition tools in performance.
